Snowfall - The Heart of Darkness - Back Story

In my late teens I wrote a mini Novel called Legends - The Kings Alliance the novel was the tale of the founding of an Alliance that would change the shape of the World Sana. I will outline in this thread the key events that took place in the novel to provide back ground to Snowfall - The Heart of Darkness which is a spin off to the Novel.

The Main Characters in Legends - The Kings Alliance are: Earl Vasco De Shazen (Later Crowned King of Benstock), Lord Ferdinando Del-Sargasha El-Carzian, Alexander Von Humbold (Later became King of Corell), Shella Di Jannio, High Lord Frechzare (Brother of the die-ing King of Benstock) King Jamelli the 2nd (Dies due to poisoning), Lord Arrayus Teth (Lord of Grisgo and 3rd Paladin of the circle of 12), Tarken Teth Lord of Fire, Bramwen Teth (Later Crowned Queen of Corell), Gorain (Mortal God of fire), Trueek (The Fire Guardian), Rellar (Drow Elf and Mistress of Arrayus), Arcquelless and others.

The Summary: The tale Starts when a fleet from Enrellia attacks the Island Kingdom of Benstock, the attack is repelled and a small group is assembled to go and spy on Enrellia which is ruled by 12 Paladins (known as the circle of 12) and the attack is not fitting with the way they normally act. Earl Vasco De Shazen and Alexander Von Humbold gather the band and cross the Black Sea to land in the neutral kingdom of Rainstock on the continent of Enrellia. There they meet Arrayus, Tarken and Bramwen who give them cryptic information regarding the situation and forcing Vasco to push the party to leave for Enrellia itself, Before they leave the port city the party is ambushed by assassins and one of the parties key members is killed and the others decide to go home leaving Vasco and Alex to complete their mission on their own.

As Vasco and Alex travel south they are intercepted and ambushed a second time Alex disappears at the start of the battle and Vasco is left to fend for himself when all seems lost Arrayus appears and slays the assassins and offers to ride with Vasco to the city of Grisgo. On the Journey Arrayus tells Vasco that he is to become the next King of Benstock and that High Lord Frechzare is the one that is trying to kill him and that he has poisoned the King so that he may take the throne for himself.

On the Journey Arrayus also speaks of a coming war that could destroy the world of Sara and plunge it into an everlasting dark age unless the Kings and Queens of the lands can unite and fight the evil of the undead horde. Arrayus suspects that High Lord Frechzare is also allied to the Liches of Drasselouper a continent to the north east.

Once at Grisgo word reaches them that High Lord Frechzare is leading a counter attack against Enrellia his first target is the walled city of Grisgo its self Arrayus calls a council of all the kings and queens of Enrellia to aid them in the coming battle, reluctantly they agree and return to their kingdoms to rally their troops.

High Lord Frechzare's army reaches the field of battle with Lord Marcus Di Jannio and Ferdinando Del-Sargasha El-Carzian bringing up the rear Frechzare marches his army to the front and takes up the centre feild. the Allied army Lines up opposite and the battle begins when Frechzare unveils his soldiers and shows them for what they really are, undead. Seeing this Ferdinando and Marcus turn on Frechzare and attack his army from the rear the battle is over quickly but Frechzare escapes.

Vasco returns to Benstock in time to see the King Jamelli die and agrees with his lieges dieing wish and becomes king and agrees to sign the Kings Alliance thus unifying Benstock and Enrellia as one force. Arrayus sends Tarken in search of the Angel of Fire and the lovers Bramwen and Alex off to Alex's home country to ask his father the King of Hepton-Bold to join the Alliance.

Alex and Bramwen reach his father and the two men reconcile their deferences and he agrees to sign the Alliance if Bramwen marries Alex after a short time of indecision she finally reaches the conclusion that she loves Alex truly and agrees to the terms. Thus bringing Hepton-Bold into the alliance.

Tarken travels far to the north west across to the Island of Mt Jana (Pronounced Yana) and climbs the mountain meeting his future wife Nelleiana and confronts Gorain the god of Fire who has been forced to live as a mortal by the other gods after a short conversation Gorain tells Tarken where to find the Angel of Fire and waves him on his way with a warning that Tarken would soon die at the hands of the Guardian. Tarken eventually finds the Angel of Fire and Trueek the Fire Guardian discovers that Tarken cannot be killed by the element of fire. Much to Tarkens surprise the Artefact crumbles to dust in his hand and its power transfers to him. Tarken becomes the Lord of Fire a Demigod in his own right. Tarken and Trueek return to Gorain and together with Nelleiana join forces and head back to Arrayus.

While the others are away on their quests Rellar sneaks into Arrayus' room and tries to kill him, She fails and he takes her captive, he soon learns that she was sent by Frechzare who has become a Lesser Lich of Drasselouper and that they plan to attack Enrellia and Corell, the two fall in love and Rellar swears her allegiance to Arrayus.

Some months later every one assembles at Grisgo and Alex and Bramwen Marry and according to the costumes of Corell Bramwen becomes Queen of her country and signs the Kings alliance adding the Might of Corell.

The Liches land on the shores of Enrellia and The Kings Alliance greets them the Circle of the Twelve launch the battle and manage to route 4 of the 7 Liches and Kill Frechzare in the process. however they lose 4 Paladins including Arrayus.

At the lose of his Bond Brother (Arrayus was married to Tarken and Bramwen's sister and Queen of Corell Torlla who was murdered) Tarken sunders the Heart stone (A gift from Elgrim the All God).

In a dream like state Arrayus awakens to find the god Asenguard and his wife the Goddess Xian stood over him they tell Arrayus that he is in fact their son and that Elgrim had cast him into the ether to die between the planes, however the goddess Lolth plucked him from the endless void and gave him to the King of Benstock to raise as his son as she did not possess the power to restore him to godhood though they do not know why the Queen of spiders did this.

Together Asenguard and Xian combine their powers to bestow upon Arrayus Demi God status and send him back to Sana.

Arrayus appears on the battle field as a man wreathed in a brilliant light all the undead who are caught in the light are destroyed and Arrayus engages the Lich Corgnir (The one that previously killed him) and destroys him the undead retreat back to their country and the war is ended.

In the days and months after Enrellia suffers much internal strife the lose of 3 of the circle of twelve has far reaching consequence and the southern regions raise up in rebellion.

After many battles the rebellion ends but due to the lack of man power the far south of the continent remains un-unified and several cities begin to fight amongst themselves seeing this as an opportunity Arrayus sends small bands into the "Wilds" in the hopes of finding a weakness he can exploit.

At this point the Story ends as I intended to write a sequel called Legends - The War of Chaos but then I got a job and have not had the time to write it
