The original Emperor class passenger liners were commissioned nearly two hundred years ago, and at the time they were the pinnacle of luxury and speed. Various versions of the Emperor class have been built in that time, currently the Emperor XI is being produced.
The USF Neptune has been in service for 175 years via various owners and factions. She had only been in service for ten years when she was boarded by pirates for the first time. There was only one death, the captain, however he had taken the ship far from the established shipping lanes and most argued - including most of the passengers - that he deserved to die for putting the ship and the people in it in so much danger.
For the next 150 years the ship traveled the stars before she was boarded by pirates for a second time. After the slaughter it was decided that the ship would be scrapped and was taken to a USF owned and operated salvage yard. The USF decided that, with a little modernisation, the ship could be pressed back into service for at least another 100 years.
So, with upgraded shields, cannons, engines and a vastly upgraded power core the ship was recommissioned and pressed into service.
On her 175th birthday she docked at Zethus in the Desian system, making her only the ninth ship to have visited every populated planet in the galaxy.
Currently under the command of Captain Robert M. Stryder of the USF, she still plies the passenger routes between major population centers.
In her lifetime it is estimated she has earned over 2 trillion credits and transported 100 million passengers.
