A guide to Fallout 3 mods (PC) Empty
PostSubject: A guide to Fallout 3 mods (PC)   A guide to Fallout 3 mods (PC) EmptyFri Jun 19, 2009 6:18 pm

Fallout 3 is a great game on its own but what makes it even better than simply "Great" are the mods that can be downloaded and installed.
these can do something as simple as add a weapon to a locker or dramatically change the face and even the way the game is played.

The first thing any "Mod User" must do when thinking about downloading and playing a mod is get a hold of these three simple but essential things.

Step 1 Archive-Invalidation.

Archive-Invalidation-v1.04

This auto updates you mod directory archive so that you don't have to few "moders" will give you instructions on how to do this manually so this program is a must.

Step 2 Fallout Mod Manager V.0.9.14 (FOMM)

FOMM-V.0.9.14

This is an awesome bit of kit and many moders actually create their mods wit this in mind and often have it so you can install the mod using this device.
But it is far more important than that as the FOMM allows you to set the Load Order of your mods by simply moving them up and down the list those at the top load before those at the bottom to that end Fallout.esm MUST be at the top followed by the DLC Official mods. Some mods have two separate file types .esm is a Master file and must always be placed above a .esp.

Step 3 Fallout Script Extender (FOSE)

FOSE v1_1 beta 6

This simply extends the script of Fallout 3 to allow the game to do more than it could originally do nearly ALL mods require this and most moders don't even mention if their mod uses it or not because it is assumed every one has it.

Don't forget to download the patch v1.5
Interesting Facts.
-FOMM auto detects FOSE and will launch the game using that not the launch.app.
-FOSE does not use the game disc and can launch the game without it.
-FOSE disables Windows Live (YAY) meaning you don't need an official copy.
-With windows live disabled the game loads to the main menu (approx) 10 seconds faster (Depending on your machine)
-FOSE improves the quality of game play and reduces the chances of a CTD

This is a short list of my favourite mods.

Weapon Mod Kits
Community Ammunition Library - CALIBR
20th Century Weapons (Requires: Community Ammunition Library - CALIBR)
Jessi Companion
Sunglasses Collection
Personal Vertibird

If you are considering downloading Armour and other apparel I would suggest Getting Type 3 body replacer for the ladies and Breezes FO3 Males use FOMM to install this one and make sure to check the non-nude box or you will have a hell of a shock when you loot the armour of a fallen dude *shivers* (unless your into that kind of thing)

On Fallout 3 Nexus just typing Type3 or Breezes (or BZ) will bring up a large array of clothing and armour mods
