X3 Terran Conflict Empty
PostSubject: X3 Terran Conflict   X3 Terran Conflict EmptySun Sep 19, 2010 8:10 pm

X3 Reunion is one of the most in-depth space Fighter/Economy sim the idea is you either started as one of the characters and embarked on their quest the main plot had you playing as an Argon (Human) Veteran pilot who embarks on a mission of discovery of himself, his father and of exploration, You fight it out or trade or track or shadow or explore a vast universe of star systems all connected by jump gates, Freelance esque I hear you cry? Not really the flight is more majestic, the graphics smoother, the controls easier to contend with, but the game is huge and it takes hours to learn how everything works but when you do you can find months of enjoyment just trekking around doing your own little thing.

So Reunion was good now there is X3 Terran Conflict, Not much has changed on the surface but when you look deeper than the obvious GUI update you can find new ships, stations and tech for you to play with.

Here are some snaps for your enjoyment.

Spoiler:
This is my personal fighter The M3 class Nova Prototype Paladin.

Spoiler:
That's my space station where my Nova was built with (From closest) my ships an M1 Colossus Endeavour, a TL Mammoth Majesty and an M1 Titan Eximius

Spoiler:
Just to give you an Idea how large those ships really are here is my Nova between the two dorsal turrets of the Endeavour, keep in mind that the Nova's cockpit is that black panel just infront of the fin.

I'll post some more snaps soon, there are 6 races in the game that you can buy ships from and 2 that you Have to steal from and they all have their own designs.

X3 Terran conflict can be bought off Steam for a tidy sum of £19.99 which is incredible value for money considering the game will keep you going for months on end It has many different plots and you unlock others as you reach different goals, the game is incredibly in depth allowing you to do almost anything you want.

Spoiler:
This is a Terran Orbital Defence platform you can buy upgrades and equipment here if you start as a Terran or have a good rep with them, you can find them in nearly all Terran sectors.

Spoiler:
Here is the Argon Equipment dock it serves the same function as the above station only they are fewer in quantity.

Spoiler:
A Terran Escort its about the length and width of an English football pitch and has a fearsome array of armaments. (Not sure what the length and width of football pitch is? Google it Razz)

Spoiler:
The Paranid use this mess of welded together bits as their main heavy hauler its size is similar to that of the Argon Mammoth and it serves the same purpose.
Not all things in X3 look good but then the idea is to show the diversity between the races that you will encounter, The Paranid have a different approach to design and obviously don't share Humanities idea of eye-candy.

Spoiler:
The Teladi main Carrier is the Phoenix, All the different ships in X3 have different capabilities this vessel may have better or worse attributes in some areas than its Argon counterpart, (the Colossus) so it would be hard to predict the outcome of a one on one battle between the two, In either event the survivor would require millions of Credits to repair, YES! millions a Colossus will cost you 89 million just to buy and an additional 15mill to outfit repairing ships depends on their overall cost and the cost of the upgrades and equipment you have installed. I have been bankrupted more than once by the repair bills of my fleet.

Spoiler:
This Tidy little scout ship is a Terran Rapier she's not much in a dogfight but then your enemies will have a hard time keeping up with her, I would advise making a break for a larger more powerful friendly unit and then support it as it shreds your aggressors for their trouble.

Spoiler:
Like the Player there are other corporate entities looking to make a profit in the X-Universe, This awesome site is the standard design for a corporations Headquarters unlike the races docks you can normally land here regardless of your rep, these stations are good place to find contract work and the much in-demand Jump drive.

Spoiler:
Vistas like this will often fill your cockpit windows.

Spoiler:
Check out the attention to detail on this distant planet.
While we are looking at this pic allow me to explain about the HUD. Starting from top left,
Personal Information (Info on your stuff, rankings and reputation as well as other things)
Navigation (Sector and universe map),
Your ship (Ship info, Autopilot menu, freight list and other ship related stuff),
Target (Info on targeted object),
Station menu (only highlighted when docked, gives you a list of things you can do when docked like trade with the sattion, Barter with another docked ship or talk to some one on-board)
Camera Display window (The panel that has Sabre written at the top is the camera window (Normally open I had closed it to allow a better view of the vista) You have two of these boxes one on either side of the screen (you can choose to hide them) and can select what you want them to display, these come in handy later on when you own some Advanced sats as you can view what's going on in the sats sector from anywhere in the X-Universe.)

Bottom Left,
Undock (only highlighted when docked for obvious reasons)
Eject Button (If your in the shit and your ride is about to go bang hit this button to save your sorry arse but be warned some people will shoot you as you float helpless in space the rotters I wouldn't advise doing this unless you have a second ship to come get you and only after the bad guys have buggered off, FYI space suits have limited flight capabilities and NO SETA)
Options menu (Save, load, controls the normal shit you would find in options)
Next to these are your weapons systems, with the laser stack (the orange lightning bolt is your energy capacitors) on top of the missile bay below which is your auto-aim display (The options for this are off (not recommended), semi-on (displays a Target lead) and on displays a target lead and adjust your your guns for optimum firing solution you can cycle these with the K key)

Bottom to bottom right.
Your Ships status panel (The Green bar is hull and the blue is shields followed by your ships registration number below this is your throttle meter which can be adjusted with the mouse to an exact speed you can click the chevrons to bring your ship to a complete stop to the right of this is your ships current speed to the left of the panel is a diamond which when clicked fires up your SETA device)
Target Panel (This is the same as your panel with some minor differences when targeting another ship it displays that ships shields and hull the distance you are from it and the current speed it is travelling at it also tells you its name and registration (Encase you don't like the way he is flying)
Gravidar display (your mini-map, tells you where everything in the sector is relative to your current position the range of this device is reliant on your current sensor device, standard (short-range) Duplex scanner (Midrange) and Triplex scanner (Long-range))

Around the edges of the screen you can see little Icons these are ships and facilities that are currently off screen, You have probably noticed that everything has a boarder around it with an Icon at the top-left of the box, Icons with arrows at the top are fighters and the lines they have under the arrow determines their class more means more powerful (eg. my Sabre would make minced meat out of my Rapier) the oblong icons are freighters they have no quick reference as they would almost never attack you, an Icon can be one of three different colours, Green (Your property) Blue (every one who is not interested in killing you) and Red (People who are interested in killing you)

Finally SETA, SETA stands for Singularity Engine Time Accelerator mine is currently accelerating time by 600% this tool is you best friend it cuts down the tedium of flying around.

X3 Terran Conflict Empty
PostSubject: Re: X3 Terran Conflict   X3 Terran Conflict EmptySat Sep 25, 2010 8:13 pm

Some more snaps.

Spoiler:
Ever wanted to know what travelling in warp space looks like? Now you know.

Spoiler:
This is a Heavy fighter, the Cutlass is a healthy balance of speed, agility and fire power.
Just encase you found the backdrop somewhat familiar, That is Earth in the background as seen from the Moons orbit. The structure you can see near the equator is a huge orbital platform, I went there once and strayed of the highlighted root and they promptly killed me for it.

Spoiler:
This is the Terran Corvette that I have just been given as part of the Terran plot-line.
The Vidar is a monster of a ship when you have been spending most of your time flying fighters and scouts, Something that I found rather amusing was the description after explaining its function it says "The Vidar also comes with a health warning for any pilot who makes an enemy of the Terran Defence Force"

That planet in the back ground is Venus BTW.
